“Telling The Story”
To give new directors a way-in to directing
To give more experienced directors a forum to affirm their work and glean new ideas to refresh their work.
Day One: – Focus on Preparation
Finding and choosing the play
Getting to know the text
Analysis and research
Gathering a team
The vital backstage support
The world of the play
The style, the genre, the set, the staging
The auditions, the rehearsal schedule, getting started
Day Two: – Focus on Teamwork
- Rehearsals – Working with the actors
Freeing the actors – vocally & physically
Unlocking the text
Helping actors to tell the story
Helping actors to connect with other actors
Helping actors to connect with audience
- Stages in Rehearsals
Bringing in the rest of the team/crew
This is a ‘menu’ of possibilities.
We may move faster on day one which will mean more time for discussion/working on the rehearsal process.
Sessions will be interactive with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
